It has been well over a year since I began conversations with LEaRN about joining their team and thus, plenty of built up anticipation. I am glad to say that in my first two weeks they have lived up to my expectations 100%.
My goal is to have at least a blog post...

Alright folks - the blog you've been waiting for has arrived! The hubs and I made it to Melbourne on Tuesday morning. Nearly every waking moment has been spent thinking about housing, surfing the web for new available rentals, sending text messages and emails, running...

I admit that this was published a few weeks ago but I have been too chicken to listen to it! (who loves listening to their own voice, really?). However, what you will find is a conversation on school design, culture, and the struggles that co-working and school spaces...

Last week I had the pleasure to be hosted at "Steelcase University" in Grand Rapids, Michigan for a day of learning with their thought-leaders and researchers. The trip itself was with some of my lovely DLR Group coworkers to expose us to the front-lines of interior de...

This may upset people and I have not been able to confirm the story through extensive (albeit 5 minutes of...) googling but here's another reason to love a dachshund.
While in Munich, we took my father-in-law on a tour of Weihenstephaner brewery and our charming tour gu...

I'm on vacation right now; our first stop was through Munich, Germany for Oktoberfest. I'll get to bragging about the beer and revelry another time but first, a story. As we were eating breakfast the first morning, I saw a bunch of young children building a garden in...

During my trip to Seattle I took a stroll through the University of Washington campus. Two of the buildings I visited were libraries with vastly different designs and respective purposes. The first is the Allen Library first floor commons, designed by DLR Group, which...
September 4, 2016
I recently took a trip to visit DLR Group's Seattle office, meeting the brilliant minds designing schools in the Pacific Northwest and checking out local schools along the way. One such school was Marysville Getchell High School in Marysville, Washington. This sch...
About Me
My name is Raechel (with an "e"). I help design schools for a living and travel whenever I can. This year I am combining my two favorite things in Melbourne, Australia as a Post-Graduate Fulbright Scholar. This site will chronicle all the research and happenings while I am here, sharing the exciting things happening in schools, great food that I eat, fluffy animals I encounter, travel adventures, and any other things that just make me happy.
